What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is the technique used in skin care to exfoliate the skin to remove the outer dead cells, because with age the self-renewal process slows down, and the skin acquires a dull tone, the texture becomes rough and the skin’s ability to absorb products becomes less. Microdermabrasion benefits skin renewal and produces glowing, youthful looking skin, and also makes penetration easier for expensive facial products like serums.
Microdermabrasion procedures remove dead skin cells and in turn vacuum them away from the skin, and exfoliation leaves skin feeling smoother and fresher.
At Universal Laser Center we offer fluid microdermabrasion called Hydrafacial and Diamond Microdermabrasion, as part of the skin care treatment. These treatments are also combined with other procedures based on treatment protocols created according to clients’ skin types and skin conditions.
Why Microdermabrasion is needed
Exfoliation occurs naturally when cells from the stratum corneum (the skin’s outer tissue) are shed and removed from the skin’s surface. There are some factors that slow down exfoliation, such as the aging process, because the metabolism slows down and the regeneration time is prolonged, but also the hormonal influence of androgens and estrogens difficult this process. Excessive exposure to epidermal growth factor and vitamin A and D deficiency also slow down the desquamation process.
